About me
My interest in engineering started at a young age and I had not even realized it. I often asked myself why? Growing up in a small town in India for the first ten years of my life and then moving to Australia to continue my education was a huge leap for me. Seeing the vast difference in areas such as better structures, better roads, railway systems sparked an initial interest in learning more about how one can design and achieve such wonderful structures and systems. A spark, that's where it all began and working hard throughout my primary and secondary education, I was able to secure a spot in my dream degree and major in Civil Engineering at Griffith University where I am currently in my third year of bachelor's degree.
I have always found an interest in making a real difference and making a positive impact in everything and everyone around me. Whether it be to people, or to the environment around me I always like to leave my positive mark wherever possible. These values overlap with the volunteer work I undertake in my Catholic community, helping customers in my part-time retail job and also in my study while working with fellow students. My volunteer work involves being a teacher in my local Catholic Parish and teaching children important values of the Church. These day to day participation in activities that leave a positive impact is also one of the reasons I have chosen to study Engineering. Planning and analysing structures that help move people around or provide housing in a timely and effective manner can make an immensely positive impact on individuals, companies and communities.
This e-portfolio is a brief snapshot into my future career and life plans. Please feel free to have a look around, get inspired and contact me for any further information.
5 year plan
Now - Graduation
Having a very limited amount of professional work experience, my aim until graduation is to build my professional network and improve my industry contacts. I have a high interest in learning and gaining inspiration from both domestic and International Engineering strategies that are not only smart but is also sustainable. For this reason, I want to start gaining professional Engineering experience in my internship which will help me complete my IAP. I would love to join and work alongside a firm that is focused on Geotechnical Engineering as it lines up with my beliefs of smart Engineering alongside sustainable Engineering. I would love to contribute my knowledge to the field as well as gain professional experience before I graduate.
After Graduation (Short term)
After graduation I would have built a professional Engineering network around me and have multiple industry contacts which I have worked on prior to graduating. I also would be more confident in the professional workforce as I would have gained experience in my internship during the final year of the degree. I would be comfortable working in either the private or public sector in the Geotechnical Engineering field. During my first years as a graduate Geotechnical Engineer I would like to plan, direct and conduct survey works as thoroughly and effectively as possible to ensure growth for my career.
After Graduaduation (Long Term)
Now that I have gained a significant amount of experience working in the Geotechnical field of Engineering, my goal is to work as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer who plans, coordinates and manages site investigations to deliver Geotechnical investigative reports. This is something I am very passionate about as I have the ability to make a significant impact on site investigations and Geotechnical analysis in the most positive and sustainable ways possible. I would also be very interested in completing a Master's degree so I can further enhance my abilities as an Engineer and make further valuable contributions to the industry.
